Fashion Week Q & A
Happy Sunday everyone! In this post, I will be answering your most frequently asked Fashion Week questions.
When is Fashion Month? Womenswear takes place in February and September.
What is FW + SS? Fall Winter and Spring Summer. In February designers showcase their FW collections. In September they showcase their SS. For example, this season showcased SS18 and in February 2018 the designers will be showcasing FW18/19.
How do you get into shows? Tickets are given on an invite only basis.
How do you get invited? As your blog grows, so will your invites. My first season I only attended one show. Networking is key. The better a relationship you have with a brand, the more likely you are to get invited to their show. You can also research the PR contact for a designer and request a standing room ticket.
What are the fashion month locations? The big four take place in New York, London, Milan and Paris.
How long does a runway show last? Anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes.
What is a presentation? A presentation is not a sit down show. It usually lasts up to two hours. You can go anytime in those two hours to walk around and view the designers SS or FW season.
How do you dress for a show? It depends. Sometimes a brand will dress you for their show. If you’re just attending and not working with a brand, dress however you want. In my opinion, there are no rules in fashion. You will see all different types of outfits at fashion week, from jeans and a tee, to a full fur coat and leather pants.
Lastly after parties… I received so many questions about after parties which also sparked my interest my first fashion week. The big parties are invite only, some are open to the public. Honestly, this season I didn’t make it to many because I worked so much during the days. Some designers have after parties the night of their show. If you are invited to their show, you can request an invite to their after party if you are not already invited.
Well, that’s that! I only answered your most frequently asked questions so comment below if you have anything else you want answered!
